The final event of the Wessex Grand Prix Series took place at Bowmoor on Saturday 23rd. After a disrupted season it was good to see 20 boats on the water, and a strong showing of local boats matched by a number of visitors.

The wind was a light but consistent southerly winds throughout, the direction that gives the shortest upwind space on Bowmoor lake. But Race Officer Tom Whittingham set some adventurous courses with many short legs, to get the best from the opportunity.

First time visitor Andy Allen (Trimpley) adapted quickly and led from the first windward mark, extending throughout the race to achieve a resounding win, with local sailor Mike Hing in second. Sadly Allen was not able to sustain the same level throughout, with a mid fleet result in race 2. Hing took the opportunity to claim his first win. The final race saw the leaders battle it out again with Hing posting a second win, from Allen in second, leaving Hing the winner.

Overall Results:

1st Lady - Alison Goddard (Bowmoor)
1st ILCA 4 - Alex Davies (Bowmoor)
