Persico 69F Cup, GP4.2 - A rewarding early start

One thing I appreciate about the 69F Class and its management is that they are not afraid to go out and sail whenever it is possible.

Today we had an early dock out call at 7.30am, the sun was just coming up and Dede De Luca, 69F Sailing Director, was already out on the water checking the wind.

At the beginning, everybody was a little concerned about the too strong wind forecast but then the call arrived and all the boats went out; eventually they were right and we had four great races! So, I think that is a great thing and it shows they are not afraid to put it out there, I really appreciate that and I am sure all other sailors appreciated that too.

Anyway, today it has been challenging not necessarily from the wind but rather from the sea state since we were dealing with some swell coming in from the north. We tried to adapt, we managed to have a couple of good starts battling with the youth Dutch team. Everything is open, we will push hard to keep the first position in the overall ranking. Looking forward to the next couple of days.

Today was my first day on the boat, I am new in the team but I like the 69F very much already. This is also my first first foiling experience and I can say the boat is real fun! I am just at the beginning so for me it is a little bit more difficult but I think this is good training for me, I am very motivated!

Today we had big waves and strong wind so it has been hard, we also had a couple of capsizes we did not expect. Our focus is still on the Youth Foiling Gold Cup starting in Cagliari in a couple of weeks but we want to use this regatta to train us at our best.

This is our second event in a row. It has been great fun so far but I have to say that sailing for twelve consecutive days is pretty tough. Actually, we decided to use this week as training for the future event as well. Today we experienced very different wind conditions: at the beginning we had 10 kts and in the end we finished with 25/ 30 kts. We know we have a lot to learn but we feel we are improving day by day and this feels rewarding.
