On the 1-3rd October the Nordrhein-Westfalen State state championship took place in the RS Aero at the Kanu Segel Club Hemer with 16 keen sailors registered for the regatta.

The weather forecast for the weekend promised a lot of wind with gusts of up to 42kn for Sunday. With this prediction, Gunther Nulle started the regatta as race director on Saturday with 5 races. The races were challenging for the participants due to strong wind shifts and gusts. The gusty wind was also evident ashore when choosing the sails, with all but four participants relying on the smaller RS Aero 5 rig.

This also meant that the fight for the state championship title between Jorn Domres, Richard Ebbing and Jannis Meyer became even more exciting. All three participants were pretty close together during the races. The constant change in the placements in the individual races ultimately meant that there were only 1.5 points between Jorn Domres and Jannis Meyer.

Marcus Walther was not deterred by any of this and sailed confidently away from the fleet and finished the event as the overall winner of the regatta with a perfect score of 6 points. Congratulations!

Many thanks again to the regatta team from the KSC Hemer, which once again did a great job!

Next for the German RS Aero circuit is Ankerlaterne at Steinhuder Meer, on 9/10 Oct followed by Letzten Helden - Blankeneser SC, Elbe, Hamburg, 13/14 Nov. The first German Youth Training Camp is set at KSC Hemer on the Sorpesee on 18-22 October.
