The RYA is calling on its global network of more than 100,000 members to help spread the word about the many benefits of being a member to their friends and family with its Refer a Friend programme.

Throughout October, every RYA member that refers a friend or family member, who decides to join, will receive not one but two special 'thank you' gifts - an RYA branded OverBoard dry bag and RYA water bottle.

Not only do the referring members enjoy their free gifts but new members also enjoy a 25% discount off their first year of membership, so it's a win, win for everyone.

"The continued support of our members is vital in ensuring we maintain a strong voice to act on our members' behalf to protect their freedom to use the water responsibly, with the minimum of restrictions", explained Ben Falla, RYA Head of Membership.

"Our members are our best advocates and undoubtedly the most qualified to explain to potential new members how RYA membership benefits them in their boating lives. With the help of our existing members through the Refer a Friend programme we hope to build our membership base and be stronger than ever", Ben added.

Every member that joins the RYA not only adds their voice to over 100,000 existing members in support of the work the RYA does ensuring that legislators, regulators and other authorities understand and take account of recreational boating activity.

Members also enjoy access to free boating-related specialist legal, regulatory and technical advice and support from our experts. Plus, specially negotiated offers and discounts from a whole host of member partners to help cut the cost of their boating; all the latest news and information, as well as belonging to a community of likeminded individuals with the same passion, making a difference to the boating they do.

Taking part in the Refer a Friend scheme is simple:

    1. Visit here
    2. Complete the referral form including the name and email address of your friend
    3. Both gifts will be automatically available to select for the duration of the month
    4. We'll invite your friend to join the RYA by email with a 25% discount
    5. If your friend becomes a member by 31 October 2021, you'll receive your referral gifts in the post, it's that easy
