Sitting here in managed quarantine in New Zealand now seems like a world away from the amazing two weeks of sailing that myself and many others had the opportunity to enjoy at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup in Porto Cervo, Sardinia last week. There was no doubt, a different atmosphere this year at the regatta, an especially positive one, one where people seemed very aware of how lucky we were to be sailing around in this beautiful location, in beautiful boats with what the world is going through - but man, did they do it well and at no time did it ever feel risky or irresponsible. This is going to be the new norm for a while and as sailors I have no doubt that we will be able to adapt well and make the most of it.. Congratulations to all the events that have made the extra effort to make the regattas happen around the world. I have now been with Doyle Sails for more than ten years and seeing our representation at the Maxi Worlds was an impressive sight - I feel immensely proud of what the whole Doyle family has achieved as a team over the years. Funnily enough, I still often feel like the 'new guy' around here and it's when I read the wonderful articles and stories like '20 years of Stratis' that i remember what a privilege it is to be part of Doyle Sails with such a rich history and strong group of people. Stay safe and happy sailing!
