St. Francis Yacht Club today announced Mustang Survival and Newfront Insurance as sponsors for the 2021 Rolex Big Boat Series, to be held September 15-19 in San Francisco, California.
The two companies, which share a history of supporting the maritime industry, will jointly host the popular Thursday night social that kicks off the first day of racing at the four-day regatta.
"Mustang Survival is proud to be a part of this long-standing tradition," said Andrew Branagh, St. Francis Yacht Club member and President of the Wing Group, Mustang Survival's parent company. "I remember working foredeck as a 16-year-old on Fast Company in this same event in 1984. To think that it is 2021 and our company is now sponsoring part of the event is truly an honor for me and our entire organization."
Both are returning sponsors at the West Coast's premier regatta, now in its 56th year of racing and featuring some of the most challenging conditions for inshore competition in North America.
"As Mustang Survival expands deeper into the sailing scene, we are excited to be part of this premiere event and are honored to be working with the St. Francis Yacht Club once again," added Josh Horoshok, Vice President of Recreation Business at Mustang Survival.
Newfront Insurance, which brokers with businesses and private clients, has long been at the forefront of innovation in their industry. Bill Dana, Commodore of St. Francis Yacht Club, says, "There's an inherent synergy between Newfront Insurance and our regatta. Both attract top-level talent who are experts in their fields and constantly changing and growing to stay on top. On so many levels, we'll be seeing the best in the west on and off the water during this year's Rolex Big Boat Series."
More than 85 boats are signed up to race at the 2021 Rolex Big Boat Series, competing in eight classes—J/70, J/88, J/105, Express 37, three divisions of ORR and a Classics class for boats older than 1955 and longer than 48 feet. Six class winners will be awarded perpetual trophies, and the event will further serve as the J/88 North American Championships and the Pacific Coast Championships for Express 37s.
