The Musto Skiff GBR Class Association has confirmed that the Scottish and Northern Skiff Open Meeting planned at Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club (DRSC) on 28/29 August 2021 is now cancelled.

Musto Skiff Scottish and Northern Series Circuit Co-ordinator, Jono Shelley, said: "With regret, the Scottish and Northern Skiff Event at Derwent Reservoir, scheduled for 28/29 August is cancelled. Despite the best efforts from well-known friends of the fleet at Derwent, the event will not take place this year, but aims to be back bigger and better in 2022. The Scottish and Northern Skiff National Championships at Dalgety Bay SC on 25/26 September will replace Derwent in the Hyde Sails series. An extra incentive to come along with both trophies and a spinnaker sail to win!"

As the event at Derwent Reservoir was scheduled as part of the Hyde Sails Series (event 5), an alternative event has been chosen to replace it. The Restronguet Open, planned for 4/5 September 2021, will now be classed as event 5 for the Hyde Sails Series, and the Dalgety Bay Sailing Club Scottish and Northern Skiff National Championship, planned for 25/26 September 2021, will now replace Derwent as the 6th and final event in the Hyde Sails Series.

The Hyde Sails Series is a sponsored event series with the GBR Musto Skiff Class Association. As part of the sponsorship package, Hyde Sails UK is sponsoring six events in the existing 2021 GBR event calendar. The overall podium winners at each of the selected events are eligible for additional prizes. At the close of the 2021 Hyde Sails Series, the sailor holding the most points across the six-events will be awarded with a Hyde Sails spinnaker worth over £700.

Eligible events to date have included the Stokes Bay Open (Stokes Bay Sailing Club) in April, the Daffodil Regatta (Ullswater Yacht Club) in May, the One Design Regatta Weekend (Largs Sailing Club) in June, and the 2021 Noble Marine UK Musto Skiff National Championships (Sunderland Yacht Club) in July/August.

With just two Hyde Sails Series events to count, The Restronguet Open and Dalgety Bay Sailing Club Scottish and Northern Skiff National Championship will be the deciders for the overall series winner.

For the latest event schedule for the Musto Skiff class, see the class event page here: mustoskiff.com/class-events/event-schedule Due to the on-going Covid situation, some events may be rescheduled or cancelled at short notice, so class members are urged to always confirm events and details with their local class representative or the sailing club host before committing and travelling.
