The weekend prior to the start of the 2021 J/80 World Championship, the Royal Danish Yacht Club (KDY- Kongelig Dansk Yachtklub) held the Open Danish J/80 National Championship off of the little town, north of Copenhagen on the Baltic Sea.

Twenty-five boats registered for the event to use it as a "tune-up" regatta for their teams, to work on boatspeed and team work. Over the two days, the efficient KDY Race Committee and PRO team managed to run four races per day for a total of eight races, much to the delight of the sailors!

The Irish team of Patrick O'Neill with crew of Ryan Glynn, Shane Hughes, and Jakob Nybo sailed MOJO to the top of the leaderboard after an eight race series; the team hails from Howth Yacht Club just north of Dublin, Ireland. After missing the first race, they accumulated a very consistent 3-2-3-2-5-2-1 for 18 pt net.

Taking the silver was Spaniard Elorza Mugica's Etnia Barcelona with crew of Mateo Mato, Villegas Martinez, and Gomez Lobera from Real Club Nautico Santander. Rounding out the podium taking the bronze was Danish team on Bella, skippering was Rasmu Lumbye, with crew of Peter Greibe, Jonas Vig, Mads Christian Taato, and Johan Sommerlund.
