High Spirits for Royal Southern's Salcombe Gin July Regatta

Hosted by the Royal Southern Yacht Club, The Salcombe Gin July Regatta will take place this weekend (10-11 July). The third regatta of the Royal Southern YC Summer Series will featuring two racecourses in the Solent for eight classes.
The J/70 Class will be competing in a double-header, for the UK Grand Slam Series and the UK Sprint Series.
The Royal Southern's prestigious clubhouse on the Hamble River will utilise the expansive Quarter Deck and Marquee for social activities, adhering to UK Government Coronavirus restrictions. The Salcombe Distilling Co. and regatta supporter Harken UK will be providing daily prizes, plus complimentary Salcombe Gin Cocktails after racing.
Black Group will feature three IRC Classes, plus HP30, Performance 40 and Club Class (VPRS Handicap). Over 30 yachts are expected for Black Group, racing on a mixture of tight Solent legs and coastal courses.
Over 30 boats are expected to be racing in White Group. Ten short sharp windward leeward races are scheduled for the SB20s and the J/70 Class. The Salcombe Gin July Regatta is an official J/70 Grand Slam event, a qualifier for the 2022 J/70 World Championships. The XOD Class is proving very popular for the Royal Southern Summer Series, with the classic wooden one-designs scheduled for up to six races.
