The Craftinsure UKWA National Circuit and Travellers Series 2021 moves on to the Southern Area Championships over the weekend of 26/27 June at Shoreham Sailing Club.

Because lockdown put paid to events earlier in the season this is only the second open meeting in the series, after the Western Area Championships were raced in perishing conditions at Littlehampton last month. The early series leaders, therefore, are Michael McNamara and Simon Townsend who won at Arun Yacht Club, followed by Andrew and Tom Wilson and then by Dave Roberts and Mike Bryant.

Shoreham Sailing Club always put on a memorable event, no more so than two years ago when racing took place in lumpy and bumpy but exhilarating conditions which were more than strong enough to put the unwary in the tide.

This weekend’s forecast is for 9-16 mph south-easterly winds on Saturday and a 9-20 mph breeze on Sunday from the east, reducing as the day progresses. There may also be a gentle Irish mist at times.

The usual protagonists expect to be competing and will be joined by Shoreham‘s finest. McNamara/Townsend were the winners at Shoreham two years ago but were pushed hard in every race. Will they win it again?

The National Circuit and Travellers series is supported not only by Craftinsure but also by Hartley Boats, McNamara Sails and others, and there is an end of season Grand Draw. Your chance of winning the big prizes are enhanced by competing in more events. You have to be in it to win it.
