Comet Trio Open at Whitefriars Sailing Club

The Comets turned up, the sun turned up, but the wind didn't get the memo and failed to materialise making the racing, course setting, and a consistent set of results, very difficult, however it was ideal weather for the barbecues!

It was one of those weekends whereby you didn't want to actually be in the lead too early on as it was inevitable that the fleet at some point was going to get that massive shift or the wind would fill in on the downwards leg moving you down the ladder, several crews went from hero to zero or zero to hero! Despite the light winds, we had plenty of action with an abandoned race, boats over the start line and even some 720's in the mix and some pipped at the finish line results... the heat certainly got to some of us.

Still, it was Darren and Sharon Padro that was able to make the most of the difficult conditions to take the overall victory closely followed by Adrian and Jacob Stanislaus and in third place was Steve Ashford and Martin Yeomans, all 3 having race wins during the weekend.

Many thanks to Whitefriars Sailing Club for hosting the event and great organisation - the campers had a great night of socialising and a few tricky games of Dobble!

Next event for the Comets Back on Tour is the National Championship at Exmouth July 30-Aug 1... hope to see you there!
