Entry now open for the International 14 POW at Tynemouth Sailing Club

Tynemouth Sailing Club are pleased to announce that entry is now open for the International 14 class POW cup week between the 2nd and 6th August.

A large number of the boats competing will have been built by Ovington Boats who are based less than a mile from TSC. Their latest offering - the Beiker 6 is the current World Championship winning design. Ovington Boats are also supporting the event with prizes and marks for the racing.

The Programme for the 5 day event is as follows:

Sailing Programme

  • Registration in Tynemouth Sailing Clubhouse from 12 noon on Saturday 31st July & from 10.00 on Sunday 1st Aug.
  • Briefing in the clubhouse at 18.30 on Sunday 1st August
  • Monday 2nd August: Race 1 Start: 13.00 Race 2 to follow
  • Tuesday 3rd August: Race 3 Start: 13.00 Race 4 to follow
  • Wednesday 4th August: Race 5: Start: 13.00 Race 6 to follow
  • Thursday 5th August: Prince of Wales Cup Race Start at 13.00
  • Friday 6th August: Race 7: Start: 11.00 Race 8 to follow
  • No warning signal shall be made after 14.00 on Friday 6th August

Social Programme (Covid allowing)

  • Club open daily from 9am for breakfast, Bar open after sailing each day
  • Monday 2nd August 6pm Commodores Reception at Tynemouth Sailing Club
  • Friday 6th August 7.00 pm for 7.30 POW Dinner at the Grand Hotel, Tynemouth (2x tickets included in entry fee)
  • Other social events throughout the week, details to follow.

Entry Fee

£300 per boat to include 2 tickets for POW Dinner on Friday 6th August at The Grand Hotel, Tynemouth and post sailing pasta after racing each day.

At 89 Tiercel proved that old boats can still compete and win Vintage and Classic Int 14's came to Rickmansworth Sailing Club over the weekend of 17th/18th May to race for two trophies. The Rickmansworth Open and Transom series Trophies. Boats travelled from as far as Cornwall to compete in this long standing event. Posted on 23 May
