Sunshine and a complete absence of wind greeted the 29er fleet on arrival at Grafham Water Sailing Club. It was no surprise when AP over 3 went up.

The fleet finally launched as the wind began to fill in at three. The wind was around four to six knots and patchy as race one started making for challenging conditions on the water.

GBR 2788 Nick Evans and Sam Webb dominated the first two races clocking up two bullets putting them at the head of the leaderboard and first juniors overnight.

Snapping at their heels are GBR 2982 Tom Storey and Ben Willett with a consistent 2, 5 and 4 putting them second overnight.

The wind shifted direction after the first race and the second race was postponed as the wind filled in. The second and third race were both sailed in light and patchy airs. It was undoubtedly a difficult and tricky day on the water leading to inconsistent results for most teams.

First girls and third overall overnight are 2743 Emily Mueller and Flo Brellisford. Caught out in the first race the girls posted a tenth, but came back in good form in race two and three with a third followed by a bullet.

First mixed are 2292, Issy Leetch and Solomon Wilby. Second girls are 2753 Sian Talbot and Maddie Bristow who posted a second on the final race of the day.

The wind is looking even lighter tomorrow so tonight please, please, please do your best wind dance for the 29er class.
