Harken, the UK's premier sailing hardware brand have confirmed it will be continuing its long association with Largs Sailing Club, one of Scotland's largest and most active sailing clubs and home to a number of top events, and will be sponsoring the clubs one design regatta in May and supporting the Largs Regatta Festival in August.
The new in event on 12th & 13th June will see more than 50 boats including Musto Skiffs, D-Zeros (part of their Northern Circuit), RS400's and 29ers competing on courses in the channel over two days for prizes provided by Harken. The D-Zeros have their nationals at Largs in June and with 30 boats in Scotland and strong support from the North of England boats the turnout should be good. The Musto Skiffs and RS400's have enjoyed some great events at Largs and the 29ers regularly train at the club and have their 2021 Nationals at Largs.
The Largs Regatta Festival is the largest regatta on the Clyde with fleets of keelboats and dinghies including mixed courses and of course the highly popular Round Cumbraes Races.
Harken UK’s Managing Director, Tom Peters, says, "We are excited to be working with Largs Sailing club again, they run great races & events and are an incredibly keen and growing club which turns out great mixed handicap fleets, one design racing as well as being very active on the training and youth sailing front. Their new one design event in May is already creating a lot of interest. The Club are really supportive of our input and keen to support us with publicity and its been fun working with them over the years."
Largs Sailing Club Events Convener, John Connelly, confirms that the relationship with Harken is a strong one which has benefitted the club immensely. "We hope that, after a very difficult year of COVID restrictions, the events we are running in 2021 will see at least a degree of normality returning to the sport and to some good numbers for exciting racing at Largs. Our thanks go to Harken for their proactive support and we look forward to welcoming members and visiting racers back on the fantastic racing waters at Largs."
