Entries opened today for the inaugural RTYC Annual Invitational Regatta, which will be held on Friday 20th - Sunday 22nd August. This is an exciting addition to the Solent race calendar providing high level class racing with dedicated committee boat start lines and courses for the fleets taking part.

The highlight of the regatta will be top level racing with three fleets of high-performance yachts, including the exciting brand-new Cape 31 fleet. The invited classes taking part in the fleet racing across the weekend will be

  • Quarter Tonners
  • Performance 40
  • Cape 31
There will also be a programme of racing for J70's, Classic pre-1974 GRP cruiser/racers, Sparkman & Stephens cruiser/racers and a cruiser/racer open class.

The three start lines will give the race committee the flexibility to create a dynamic and fast paced racecourse for each fleet, as they do battle for the impressive array of trophies on offer, which will include the David Diehl Trophy, Heligoland Cup (Imperial Trophy) and the Staples Trophy, three primary historic Royal Thames trophies.

On Friday night there will be an Après Sail Waterside Party and on Saturday celebratory Dinner and Dance at RORC. The winning yacht in each class will be awarded two free tickets to the prestigious black tie Prize Winners Dinner held at 60 Knightsbridge on 11th November to be presented with their fine silver trophy.

Russell Peters added, "I will be entering my Cape 31 immediately and am much looking forward to this exciting new regatta, both on and off the water."

William Edwards, Rear Commodore Sailing, RTYC, "I am delighted to invite friends and members of the Royal Thames Yacht Club to join our Inaugural Annual Invitational Regatta. Three days of first class racing alongside fun social events will create a high light of the 2021 sailing programme."
