Female sailors are being invited to register early for their inaugural Women and Girls only regatta at Humpybong Yacht Club, Woody Point.

The regatta is being held on 15 and 16 May 2021 to encourage female sailors of all ages and experience to come together to improve their skills.

The weekend starts with coaching and social events in the morning followed by racing in the afternoon.

Humpybong Yacht Club President David Begley said early registrations are being invited to ensure that every sailor wanting to take part can find the classes that will be competing, those craft requiring skippers or seeking crew to fill any vacant positions.

"We are delighted with the early interest in the regatta and expect to have a wide range of dinghy and catamaran classes with competitors expected from all over the South East and northern NSW. Additionally, we are catering for female sailors of all ages from 7 to 70."

"Early registrations will help the club with organisation of and rostering of our volunteers, resource allocation, logistics and catering.

The earlier we know and can confirm boat numbers, classes, crewing and sailors experience levels, enables us to assist competitors to get involved and offer a fantastic weekend of on the water action. Mr Begley said.

We especially want to ensure that women from mixed crew boats do not miss out and not attend because they lack a skipper or crew place, or that some with minimal experience will think they will be excluded.

Mr Begley said sailors from all levels of experience are expressing their interest in the regatta
