The Bermuda Race Organizing Committee (BROC) has named GMT Composites an Official Race Supporter of the 2022 Newport Bermuda Race. GMT is a sponsor of the 2021 series of Race-Prep Webinars and, located in Bristol, RI, is readily available to provide technical support as racers prepare their boats.

"We have a proud history with the Newport Bermuda Race," said GMT President Jonathan Craig. "Boats fitted with our carbon spars have won their class or division in each of the past three races. Two of them took home the St. David's Lighthouse Trophy—Actaea in 2014 and Grundoon in 2018, each with GMT carbon masts. We are excited to be an official supporter of the 2022 race and we wish all the competitors the best of luck.".

Founded in 1984, GMT Composites pioneered the use of carbon fiber pre-pregs for sailboat spars. Originally fabricating carbon rudders for America's Cup boats, the company has been building carbon spars longer than any other spar builder. Their experience and technology has helped a number of owners optimize their boats' performance to compete at the highest level.

"I am very pleased to welcome GMT Composites to our family of race-supporting sponsors for the 52nd Newport Bermuda Race," said BROC Chairman Somers Kempe. "GMT Composites' pedigree in the race reflects their attention to detail, something we support, as competitors prepare their yachts and crew for the long-anticipated 635-mile Thrash to the Onion Patch."
