Hyde Sails UK is confirmed to sponsor a UK event series with the GBR Musto Skiff Class Association in 2021.

As part of the sponsorship deal, Hyde Sails UK will sponsor six events in the existing 2021 GBR event calendar, which is due to start in mid-April. The overall podium winners at each of the selected events will be eligible for additional prizes. At the close of the '2021 Hyde Sails Series', the sailor holding the most points across the six-events will be awarded with a Hyde Sails spinnaker worth over £700.

The Musto Skiff class has a long history with the global sailmaker. Hyde Sails is the official sails partner for the Ovington built Musto Skiff and has been a continued partner of the international class since it was first established some 20 years ago.

This year, the UK division will be furthering its support in this regional initiative with the GBR class to encourage more sailors to participate in competitive events and bring fleets together from all parts of the UK over 2021 - Covid travel rules permitting.

The six events chosen for the '2021 Hyde Sails Series' will be split across the UK's Northern and Southern Circuits to give class members a chance to take part, and will include the following events:

  • April 17 - Stokes Bay Open (Stokes Bay Sailing Club)
  • May 22/23 - Daffodil Regatta (Ullswater Yacht Club)
  • June 12/13 - One Design Regatta Weekend (Largs Sailing Club)
  • Jul 29 - Aug 1 - Noble Marine UK Musto Skiff National Championships (Sunderland Yacht Club)
  • August 28/29 - Scottish and Northern Skiff Open Meeting (Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club)
  • September 4/5 - Asymmetric Open (Restronguet Sailing Club)

Whilst the Musto Skiff class recently published their full 2021 event schedule, some dates and events may still be subject to change due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic. However, with lockdowns starting to ease across the country, the class remains optimistic that the season will finally get under way with their first event of the season at Stokes Bay.

GBR Musto Skiff Class Association Chairman, Ben Schooling, said: "It's fantastic to have Hyde Sails on board as the sponsor of our 2021 UK circuit, they are a great partner of the Musto Skiff and are providing some good prizes for the selected events. The combined effect of lockdown easing, a huge appetite to get back to racing, and a spinnaker up for grabs will no doubt encourage many UK boats to compete on the circuit. Here's to a great 2021 season!"

Jack Grogan of Hyde Sails added: "Hyde sails are really excited to be sponsoring the Musto Skiff UK circuit. The class is full of fantastic sailors, who are great fun. Add this to the fact that the boats are lovely to sail, look spectacular and are incredibly well built. These are all things that Hyde Sails, as a sailmaker, wants to be part of, and associated with!"
