RS Aeros at the Indian River Yacht Club Winter Fun Regatta

by RS Aero International Class Association 1 Feb 2021 05:53 GMT January 23-24, 2021
RS Aeros at the Winter Fun Regatta © RS Aero North American Class Association

A relaxed regatta hosted by the Indian River Yacht Club racing on the Banana River from Merritt Island, Florida. Fleets of both RS Aeros and Lasers enjoyed pleasant medium breezes, a nice temperature and blue skies made for an enjoyable weekend on the water.

RS Aero fleet local, Gregory Popp, commented; 'It was a small RS Aero fleet of nine boats but consistently close racing with finishes seconds apart and even only by one second. The bonus was the Falcon 9 launch from Cape Canaveral that ascended right overhead to a thunderous roar as we were on the water!'

With both racing and training and nine RS Aeros on the start line the weekend served as an excellent warm up to the RS Aero South Florida Race Week Jan 30th - Feb 7th at the US Sailing Center at Jensen Beach. The winter sun mega week comprises three race events and training, including the 2021 Florida States, North American Midwinter Championship and a special Long Distance race.
