The decision whether the Breakout Series will proceed will be announced on Monday January 4.

A meeting of the joint clubs Organising Committee - Middle Harbour Yacht Club, Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club, Royal Motor Yacht Club Broken Bay and Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club - has today agreed to review the Public Health Orders and advice from NSW Health early in the New Year before confirming the event will proceed.

The Breakout Series is scheduled for 18-22 January, starting and finishing in Sydney, with five offshore races taking in Pittwater and Newcastle. The event has already been postponed from its original dates in August due to public health concerns.

"There has been a lot of interest in the Breakout Series, with sixty boats entered in the races organised in August," said Committee Chairman, Commodore Peter Lewis from Middle Harbour Yacht Club.

"However, the fluidity of restrictions and recommendations surrounding the Northern Beaches Covid cluster now mean there is some doubt whether the event can go ahead in January," he said.
