International One Metre - IOM-GBR 2021 Race Calendar

As we come out of lockdown and into the next phase of tiering, the IOM class is delighted to announce a race programme to look forward to in 2021. For all IOM and interested sailors it's time to get your diaries out as the 2021 National and Ranking events calendar is now announced.

Here are the dates (C-19 willing) and a brief description on the Ranking events and the Nationals for 2021. More details can be found at gbriom.com.

With such a great selection of venues, why would anyone not want to race at them? If you are unable to race please feel free to come along and watch and support your favourite make of boat or skipper. Or just joins to find out more about the challenge and fun of racing these great racing yachts.

  • Ranking #1 and #2 - 3rd and 4th April - Scotland, Castle Semple

    A large expanse of water (Lochwinnoch) about 30 minutes’ drive West of Glasgow, is the one ranking race that everyone looks forward to. The Scots put a great race on for us every two years. The sailing venue has everything, car park, grass bank and cafe all within touching distance. There is normally a very good social on the Saturday evening at the nearby Bowfield Hotel.

  • Ranking #3 and #4 - 26th and 27th June - Coalhouse Fort

    Located not far from Tilbury Docks on the Thames Estuary. A great 'banana' shaped lake with plenty of parking and grass banks. The home of former Fireball world champion and leading radio controlled yacht racer, Colin Goodman amongst many others.

  • Nationals - 29th-30th August - Fleetwood

    A fantastic man made lake, Located 30mins North of Blackpool. Host of many World Championships, with plenty of accommodation available within 10 minutes of the lake. Some great pubs and restaurants nearby and. known for its windy conditions and social activities.

  • Ranking #5 and #6 - 23rd and 24th October - Two Islands Located in Milton Keynes

    A large expanse of water with sailing available from two banks depending on wind conditions. A Premier Inn is located lakeside with a pub attached, plenty of parking and grass banks.

Even at peak holiday time there were 13 skippers bringing One Metres The Lincoln Radio Sailing summer series is white hot competition, even at peak holiday time we had 13 skippers turn out for round 8, boosted with the welcome visitors of Ben and Hayden Wallace from Huntingdon. Posted on 4 Aug
IOM Ranking round 3 and 4 at Datchet
A useful test event for the Worlds next year Datchet Radio Sailing are hosting the IOM World Championships in 2026 so this ranking event would be the first test event to check the club logistics are in order. The organisers had put in a huge amount of effort getting ready. Posted on 8 Jul

Scottish District IOM Travellers 2 at Paisley
Truly scrumptious lunch laid on at Barshaw Park Twelve skippers from throughout Scotland gathered at Paisley on a dullish Saturday morning for the second Scottish Travellers event of the season. Six Scottish clubs were represented. Up to eight different boat designs were entered. Posted on 10 Jun
IOM Met and Southern District event at Datchet
There were family battles between father and son, or brothers Datchet Radio Sailing are the hosts for the IOM World Championships in 2026 and put on stellar conditions for this round of the district championships. Scottish IOM Travellers 1 at Kinghorn
A dip in the loch was required for one competitor to retrieve a lost keel The 2025 MYA Scottish District IOM Travellers 1 event took place at Kinghorn Loch on 17th May 2025. The event was hosted by the Kinghorn Radio Sailing Club. Richard Ennos (RO) welcomed the thirteen competitors to the event and gave the skipper's briefing. Posted on 27 May
