On Australia Day weekend in January, Metung Yacht Club will for the 31st year hold the Eastern Region Championships. While known as a fun regatta and not so serious, the perpetual trophy certainly has a few known names such as dual world champions John Savage and John Bertrand on it. And at times attracted a 30+ boat fleet.

With the State and Territory boarders opening again and with Metung Yacht Club also hosting the Etchells Victorian Championships in early March 2021, many are seeing the advantage of using the Eastern Region regatta as a warm-up for the Victorian Etchells Championships.

Two other reasons that the Eastern Region Championship is popular are that one, there is no weight limit, and secondly there is plenty of free storage area that allows you to keep your mast up if you wish to leave your Etchells at Metung Yacht Club between regattas saving time and effort.
