Blue sky and a moderate breeze from the SW greeted a depleted fleet of six sailors at this year's Solution Inlands. Two visiting helms, Jack Turnbull from Redoubt SC near Felixstowe and Richard Brown from Great Yarmouth and Gorleston near Norwich made the journey up to Glossop and received a warm welcome from the Club's members.
With stronger winds forecast it was decided to run four races on the Saturday and the final two races on Sunday.
Racing got under way at 12.30, the windward mark being made most interesting by fresh and shifting gusts. The victory spoils of the first two races going to home sailor Kathryn Smith and visitor Jack Turnbull, Glossop sailor David Worth coming second in both races.
In similar conditions a testier course was set for the afternoon's races. Smith and Turnbull fought two close races each helm winning one of the afternoon heats. Glossop junior Louis Kidger sailed superbly in the third race to claim second place.
Three points separated the top three sailors at the end of day 1 and all set up for Sunday's finale.
Sunday's forecast was spot on with white water being spurred on by the fresh south westerly with occasional strong gusts.
Turnbull won race 5 followed by Smith and Worth and all to play for. The pressure showing at the start of race 6 with individual recalls for the top three. Smith eventually winning a very close race and the competition beating Turnbull into second place and Worth in third. Kidger finished a very respectable fourth with Nix and Brown in fifth and sixth respectively.
