RS Aero Italian Open at Circolo Vela Arco, Torbole, Lago di Garda, Italy

by RS Aero Italian Class 16 Sep 2020 16:51 BST 29-30 August 2020

A windy weekend for the RS Aero and 29er event held at the Circolo Vela Arco in very variable weather conditions and consequently not with the usual wind that Garda Trentino is associated with. In any case, the Regatta Committee managed to do everything possible using the few moments of sufficiently stable wind with just one race.

After a very windy race with winds gusting up to 30 knots had to be abandoned, an equally testing lighter race was able to be held. The young Filippo Michelotto finished fifth overall and first under 18. Filippo comes from the CV Arco youth team. Winner of the only race was Marco Avolio (Tognazzi Marine Village, Rome) followed by his club mates Carlo Valeri and Giulio Sirolli. First female Italian place was Lucilla Less.

In total five countries competed in the 2020 Garda RS Aero event.

On the Saturday night the new Italian RS Aero Class was formed at the Circle Vela Arco in the presence of many national and federal sailing authorities.

The next stages on the reduced Italian Open National Circuit 2020 are 3/4th and 10/11th October at Tognazzi Marine Village, Rome. Full details on the RS Aero Events List here.
