Astral Azure Ltd announced as Title Sponsor for 2000 Class UK Nationals at Brixham Yacht Club

by Kev 'Obi' O'Brien 12 Aug 2020 13:27 BST 16-21 August 2020

With 4 days to the launch of the 2000 Class Association UK Nationals at Brixham Yacht Club, the class have received a late sponsor from Astral Azure Ltd joining Noble Marine Insurance and RS Sailing. Astral Azure Ltd is owned and run by long-standing member Mike McEwing who sails with his daughter Imogen.

Astral Azure Ltd is a privately-held consultancy supporting the aerospace and marine sectors with the provision of specialist advice and training to operators, maintainers and managers of aircraft, air cushion vehicles and sail craft. Established in 2013, the company has a track record in delivery of complex and time-sensitive projects in both the public and private domains. Astral Azure takes pride in supporting activities that mirror the company values of integrity, clarity, teamwork and performance and is therefore delighted to support the 2000 Class Association's National Championships in 2020.

The generous support has allowed the class to provide competitors with a post-racing ice-cream and reduce the cost to the competitor for the end of regatta meal planned on the Friday 21St August.

The 2000 Class is purely run by volunteers who all work tirelessly to provide members the Nationals Millennium Circuit, UK Nationals, Welsh Championships, Inland UK Championships and also providing training events. Support from Astral Azure Ltd has made the cost associated with dinghy sailing a little bit less for members. The recent pandemic has been eventful with trying to manage and deliver events in a COVID safe environment. My thanks particularly go to Rob Burridge (Sailing Sec) who has managed to reschedule most of the Millennium series extending the sailing calendar to later in the year.

There's still time to enter the UK Nationals at Brixham YC over the 16th - 21st August 2020. Entries are currently over 30 boats entered with a 52-boat maximum entry. If you want to enter then please email your interest to

Once again, a huge thank you to Mike McEwing of Astral Azure Ltd for his generous offer of support to the 2000 Class Association. Also, a thank you to long-standing supporters to the class Noble Marine Insurance and the 2000 dinghy manufacturer RS Sailing.
