All-new Velocitek ProStart! Start and stay ahead of the competition

by Charles Swanson 22 Jul 2020 11:16 BST

Every sailor knows a great start allows you the freedom to execute your game plan and sets you up for success in the rest of the race. For the last 10 years, elite-level sailors have relied on the Prostart to balance time and distance to consistently hit the line with speed.

The original ProStart has helped teams reach the podium at the highest level of sailing, including the America's Cup World Series, TP52s, and countless World and National Championships.

The design of the new ProStart was driven by feedback from thousands of users. We kept the intuitive start-specific user interface that you know and love, and added a Gorilla? Glass display, rechargeable battery, high-speed GPS, and a groundbreaking new magnetic compass.

Crystal Clear Display:

The new ProStart adds a backlit, bonded, super high-contrast Gorilla? Glass display for the best visibility of any self-contained instrument, in all conditions.

Aerospace Grade Navigation:

Internally, the new ProStart combines a new high-speed, high-accuracy 72-channel, 18Hz multi-constellation GPS receiver with a tactical-grade 3-axis magnetic sensor and a 100Hz, 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU). The ProStart's GPS is full time SBAS enabled, giving you the most accurate position and speed everywhere you sail. These category-leading features provide the ultra-precise distance to line measurements you need to start ahead with confidence.

Tilt-compensated Compass:

To precisely account for the angle of your bow relative to the startline we've given the ProStart the most accurate magnetic compass we've ever made. It's the result of years of experience in developing advanced calibration algorithms for solid-state compasses combined with some amazing new sensor technology.

After the start, the unrivalled accuracy of the ProStart's compass will also help you track shifts with single degree repeatability.

Extended Life Onboard Battery:

The new ProStart is powered by a rechargeable 75 hour lithium-ion battery to get you through the most demanding regattas on a single charge.

The ProStart is now in stock with free shipping from velocitek.com and is available at your favorite marine outfitter.

The product is assembled, calibrated, and tested by Velocitek in-house, in San Mateo, California.
