Throughout the UK's lockdown period, sailors from around the country have been getting their racing practice in using Virtual Regatta. Weston Sailing Club has put this to good use, running a 16 race series throughout May and June, inviting both members and visitors to race against one another in the Weston SC eSailing Open Series.

The first evening of racing was dominated by youth Laser Radial sailor Arthur Farley, scoring two 1st place results, with youth 420 sailor Megan Ferguson, and British Sailing Team Laser sailor Sam Whaley taking 2nd place in Race 1 & 2 respectively. On the second evening of racing, RYA UK Youth Squad Nacra 15 sailors Ben Harris & William Harrison took 1st and 2nd, with Ben going on to take the win in the evening's second race aswell.

Throughout the series, it was James Royston, Megan Ferguson, Ben Harris, Arthur Farley and Sam Whaley who all took race wins, with the Top 3 being Ben Harris, James Royston and Megan Ferguson going into the final double-points, non-discard Medal Race.

The Medal Race saw a close battle for first between James Royston, who finished 1st and 2nd respectively, followed by Ben & Ella Harris in 3rd and 4th.

Overall it was Ben Harris who finished in 1st place overall and 1st Youth sailor, closely followed by James Royston just 3 points behind. 1st female sailor was Megan Ferguson in 3rd overall, and Ella Harris taking 1st junior sailor in 7th overall.

We thank the 25 sailors who entered the series for taking part, representing 12 different clubs, and ranging from British Sailing Team and British Youth Sailing Team members to club racers and junior sailors.

We hope everyone stays safe and we look forward to seeing everyone out on the water soon!
