Raced in Portsmouth this time, the conditions were a fairer reflection of those off Shoreham on Wednesday evening, but without the advantage of our beautiful rolling waves... the stuff of dreams not yet realised this season.
J/70s are the boat of choice for our first series and 2.4m Word Champion Megan Pascoe took two wins to take the day, closely followed by Alex Warren with a 1st and 3rd. Overall, Richard Harrison still clings onto the top of the leader board (has he over-trained we ask ourselves), but is now chased by Will Carroll still sporting his characteristic unicorn graphics in second and the ever consistent youngster, Reuben Hudson knocks Gareth Griffiths off the podium to claim third.
The second series is raced in a faster selection of boats, which this week included 49ers and Nacras. It is great for our insurance premiums that no-one at Shoreham sails Nacras - 14 Nacras on a start line is not the stuff of dreams (except those of boat repairers). Wins went to Richard Harrison, Will Carroll and Alex Warren, with these three claiming the overall series positions in that order. Others making the individual race podiums include William Warren, Louise Carr and Alex Harrison - our only youth representative in the fast fleet who rounded out the evenings racing with a family one-two.
Shoreham SC are into their second week of virtual racing, and also their second week of a sailing and boat related quiz to test the grey matter - all the info is published on our social media and website, shorehamsailing.org
