2019/20 provided a fantastic winter's racing, enjoying some great turnouts in what was a very mild and often rather breezy winter.

With an RS Aero Winter Series 14 events planned across the country and only three required for a series it was possible to choose your events and qualify without too many winter miles. Winter provides an excellent opportunity for the variety of some mixed fleet racing, an interesting change to compliment Class racing at the main Class events through the year.

Unfortunately three of the 14 planned events at Highcliffe, Oxford, Chichester and then a re-run at Broadwater were lost due to gales in February and then CV19 in March. Despite this 120 sailors competed in at least one event and 16 sailors still qualified with three events.

The final two events in March, the Frensham Frenzy and the Exmoor Beastie at Wimbleball SC, delivered excellent mixed fleet racing in pretty locations and a variety of conditions.

Making a late comeback at the end of the winter Peter Barton took the series counting three wins from Tim Hire and Greg Bartlett with two wins each. Ultimately the inability to re-run the Winter Championships at Broadwater late March deprived Tim and Greg the opportunity to claim the Series on tie break by winning the final event.

50% Sail - Prize Draw!
Once again this winter RS Sailing have generously put up a 50% discount voucher for a new sail to support our RS Aero UK Winter Series 2019/20. Everyone who qualified by competing in at least three of the events will be entered into a prize draw with an equal chance of winning! The draw will be made at the next large UK event.
