RYA Cymru Wales is keeping developments of the Covid 19 virus under close review, while working closely with the RYA on the UK Youth Nationals in Plas Heli in April.

As things stand, we have received no recommendation for postponing or cancelling upcoming championships, but we will continue to monitor and follow advice from relevant government agencies including Public Health Wales.

The Youth Nationals are still scheduled to be going ahead, though this is obviously a fast-moving situation. Public health will always remain the number one priority.

The Welsh Youth and Juniors Championships in June, also in Plas Heli, are as planned at the moment, but under continuous review.

After the World Health Organisation officially declared this corona virus a global pandemic, the mandate is clear for all governing bodies to make decisions based on communal health and safety.

"We will follow the guidelines set by the Welsh and UK Governments, and the advice which is laid out by Public Health Wales," said RYA Cymru Wales chief executive Gerwyn Owen.

"We will continue to circulate advice from the RYA and other relevant bodies to all clubs and centres in Wales.

"This continues to be a developing situation and RYA Cymru Wales will keep everyone fully informed of any changes.
