From the 27th - 29th of March Wakatere boating club is hosting the biggest RS Feva National Championships to date, with an expected fleet of 50 plus crews from around the country.

There's a lot of hype at the moment with the World Championships coming to Manly sailing club at the end of the year which has seen many new combinations forming and many adults teaming up with their children to have a crack at the open division.

NZ Sailcraft is donating two new trophies this year - one for the first Open crew and the other for the first female crew.

On Friday the 27th before the racing commences sailors are invited to a free coaching and tuning session, sponsored by NZ Sailcraft, at Wakatere from 1.30 rigged and ready with some top coach's including current World Champion Simon Cooke.

Families can also take advantage of coming a week earlier to check out the America's Cup World Series showdown from the 17th - 20th of December

RS is providing 50 new charter boats for international teams that will be pre/on sold after the world championships.

NZ Sailcraft is also running a special one-off bulk deal purchase until the end of April on new boats. For details please email

For clubs looking to build a club fleet the World Championship offers an excellent opportunity to acquire RS Fevas at a good price. Funding a new club fleet can be achieved in a number of ways - via charitable trust application, individual boat sponsorship over two or three years by a business or individual. Renting boats to new or existing club members is another option for them to get a boat without the capital outlay of buying a boat for a young sailor who might be in their first years in the sport.

The construction of the RS Feva makes the class ideal for a club fleet which ideally should be low maintenance.

Many clubs throughout New Zealand already have fleets of RS Fevas as one component in their program. The versatility of the RS Feva means that almost any crew combination will work in a design that has an excellent performance, without being overly challenging, and with simple, easy to work systems.
