A 21st Century Boat! The 2000 Class Association are celebrating their 21st Anniversary 'Coming of Age' year. The Millennium Series 2020 is supported by Noble Marine Insurance and RS Sailing.

The 2000 class is now in their 21st year of delivering family friendly high-quality events for sailors. Their unique selling point is, the ability to provide a super friendly and competitive environment for families to enjoy the thrills and spills of dinghy sailing / racing. Their competitor numbers are healthy with 53 boats attending last year's 2019 Nationals at Tenby SC.

The class will be represented at the RYA Dinghy Show this weekend situated on the RS Sailing stand B70. The class will also be drawing one lucky winner for the Nationals 'Early Bird' prize draw to win their entry fee worth £200! The draw will take place at 2pm on Saturday 29th Feb 20.

The class prides itself in having a wide demographic of members from 8 to 80 years all sailing / racing in a Fast, Family, Fun sailing environment.

This year their Millennium Series has 8 events planned, with a variety of one- and two-day events. The UK National Championships is a week-long 'Festival of Sailing' heading to the English Riviera of Torbay, sailing out of Brixham YC.

The class is very much supporting youth entries offering discounted entries fees. A youth Helm receiving a £65 saving and a youth Helm and Crew saving a huge £110! The week has many extra Après sailing events aimed at new sailors and younger members. The class will finish their season in October with the combined Inland Championships and Welsh Championships at Llandegfedd Sailing Club.

The class have a huge depth of sailors, from people venturing into the sport for the first time right through to seasoned championship winning sailors, with many having competed in the Endeavour Trophy 'Champions of Champions' regatta at Burnham on Crouch. Lots of families compete, often their children go on to be successful sailors in their own right whether that be members of youth, keelboat or university sailing teams.

The 2000 dinghy is an entry class to the 'Champions of Champions' Endeavour trophy, with many sailors who still now race having gained qualification into the event by winning the UK Nationals. The boat has also had fantastic results over the winter months in the Selden Sailjuice Winter Series. Simon Horsfield and Katie Burridge won the 18/19 series and achieved a first for the series by winning the 19/20 series, the only boat to win it in succession!

The class often receives high praise many commenting on how welcoming people are at the events. Many people have started sailing and taken the step to racing at championships events knowing they will receive support throughout.

So, if you're new to sailing or have taken a break from it, come and try the 2000 dinghy by visit the RS Sailing Stand B70. Go and have a chat with class representatives about 'Probably the best entry level family performance asymmetric dinghy in the world!'
