What they said:

Giles Scott, 32, Huntingdon, Cambs:

"The forecast here is so difficult to predict - the chat in the boat park was for a 15-knot sea breeze but it didn't come to fruition. We had a pretty soft six or seven knots in the first race and about eight in the second. I was a bit more consistent today which was good.

"The Kiwis have been very consistent so far - they've been good for a long time and they've got a good thing going on. But I've come to this world championships to try to win. I try to beat everyone and they're no different. We've got a lot of heat coming over the next few days - we could have 40 degrees tomorrow. I don't know what that means for the sea breeze. It'll be a tough day tomorrow if that weather does come through."
