With a forecast for Saturday of temperatures hovering around zero due to the wind chill this week's Charles Hurst Jaguar Land Rover Junior Icebreaker Series was pushed back to take place on Sunday morning which saw light southerly winds and clear skies.
Race one saw three toppers over the line at the start with Hannah Dadley, Eva McDonagh and Isabel Nixon all recalled and restarting but paying the price of taking the dirty wind of the fleet on the first beat. Hannah Dadley fought her way back to second place with Daniel Palmer holding out for first and Romy Maguire rounding off the podium. Dan Sherriff followed in fourth and Eva McDonagh pulling back from her recall to take fifth.
Race two was again a battle between Daniel and Hannah for first place. Hannah seemed to have the race at the last windward mark but was called out for hitting the mark. She decided to play safe and took a penalty turn which resulted in a near photo finish which was called in favour of Daniel. Dan Sherriff took third place with the ever improving Eva in fourth followed by Romy in fifth.
By the final race all the competitors were pushing the line hard. Daniel, Hannah and Dan started near the committee boat and Eva took advantage of an uncongested pin end to start in clear air. Eva take a huge lead which she was able to hold on to until the end. Daniel Palmer took second then Dan Sherriff with Taryn Phillips in her new topper getting a fourth place. The Dalzell brothers in the picos saw Zak claim three race wins from his brother Callum.
