The National Solo Class season climax takes place this Saturday 12 October at Grafham Water S.C. with the North Sails Super Series at stake and a brand new North mainsail up for grabs for the qualifiers.

The series runs from February to October and includes some of the biggest events in the Solo calendar so it really is the premiership league in terms of quality. Charlie Cumbley leads the series but I understand he will not be attending which means a win for Andy Davis would secure the overall title on count back. Shane McCarthy sits in third, two points ahead of Oliver Davenport with Richard Lovering in fifth.

See the series results so far here.

Previous winners include Andy Davis and Charlie Cumbley while winners of the North sail include in 2015 Graham Wilson, 2016 Chris Brown, 2017 Andy Davis and 2018 Terry Palmer, though his wife did pull her husband's name out of the hat so that is dubious.

There are currently 32 qualifiers with a whopping 22 who need just one more result to be included in the draw.

The forecast is currently showing a nice 15 knots which will provide professional photographer Tim Olin with the perfect opportunity to capture the action on the water. Grafham Water have a strong home fleet with Ewan Birkin Walls, Ian Walters and big Dave Lucas itching to show you all the way around.

This is the last major of the season so please do get to Grafham Water for what promises to be a thrilling curtain closer for 2019.
