64 boats for Bosham Sailing Club Senior Week © Nicky Chapple
A total of 64 boats entered this year’s Bosham Sailing Club Senior Week - all competitors have to be 21 or over - held last week. Conditions were ideal for the afternoon starts at Cobnor, with high tides, blue skies, loads of sun and a good SE breeze.
Race officer Peter Snell set some challenging and different courses, which meant some of the Chichester Scows visited parts of the harbour previously unknown to them! Other experienced helmsmen had trouble locating Gardner buoy! The entrants ranged from their 20s to those over 90, with Mrs Bobby Currey at 93 years old crewing her daughter Mimie on the final day.
Overall Results:
Fast Handicap: Currey Cup (26 entries)
1st. Dick Pratt in a Finn
2nd Andrew Francis & Norman Geehan in a Wayfarer
Classic Day Boats: Plymouth Cup (16 entries)
1st. Mimie & Alistair Currey & Bruce Garrett in a Falcon
2nd. Mick Martell& Don Bulbeck in a National 18

The Overall Winners Trophy went to Issie Lee.
Special prizes were awarded to Bas Messenger as the oldest, still successful helm;
Richard Evans as the oldest crew; Nick Geehan helming his boat half way down the largest fleet. The Radcliffe Binoculars were awarded to Lisa Chiltern and Maureen Brigden to encourage newcomers, the binoculars being useful to track the disappearing fleet!
A truly excellent Senior Week co-ordinated by Alan and Sally Ferens, ably assisted by Rosemary Curtis on results, with Barry Colgate and William Boyle co-ordinating the rescue boats.
