Following an extremely successful weekend for Bart's Bash around the world, the Andrew Simpson Foundation was presented with the prestigious British Marine Charity of the Year Award at the Southampton International Boat Show this week.

Bart's Bash is two days' racing and the flagship annual event of the ASF, inspired by Olympic Gold and Silver medalist Andrew 'Bart' Simpson MBE, who passionately believed that everyone should have the chance to try sailing and enjoy the many benefits that it brings. Bart's Bash has also become the largest mass participation sailing race in the world, with 257 venues and clubs, taking part across 31 countries over 14th and 15th September.

Richard Percy, CEO at the Andrew Simpson Foundation said, "We are very honoured to be given this award by British Marine and have had an amazing week at the Southampton International Boat Show. It started with the screening of Bart's Bash from around the world with some live footage from the venues at the Show over the first weekend, and has ended on a high for us, taking home the Charity of the Year Award.

"We are delighted that the industry and British Marine have acknowledged our ethos, which is to 'transform lives through sailing'. We hope that our competitors from last weekend will be able to attend the show over the final weekend and watch some of the footage of the racing at the Quarter Deck."
