The Melges 20 European Championship comes alive after a first day in "slow motion", conditioned by the instability of the wind; today the race course of Malcesine has shown its best potential by allowing three races to be completed, starting to give shape and substance to a ranking that now has four partial results.
The leader of today only responds to one name, which is that of Brontolo Racing by Filippo Pacinotti who establishes himself as the absolute protagonist of the Championship up to this point after having literally dominated Day 2 with three first places out of three (plus the third place of yesterday as current worst partial result). This impressive partial batch automatically projects the Italian team to the top of the standings with a margin of 6 points over Igor Rytov's Russian Bogatyrs, the defending Champion, the only one who, by now, manages to stay on Pacinotti team's trail.
Having just reached the turning point of the Melges 20 European Championship 2019, the history of this regatta is still largely to be written with the next two days, when the pressure will rise to very different and higher levels than what we have seen up until now, even though the show did not seem to be missing.
Filippo Pacinotti - "An incredible day for us where everything went right thanks to the great work of the whole team and to the tactical choices of Manu who perfectly read the race course in every race. A day that I will remember for a long time also because it is shared side by side with my son Andrea who, from this season, races on Brontolo. Now we have to stay focused for what awaits us from now until Saturday. We know that nobody will make us discounts and that behind us we have mastiffs that will do everything to gain the top of the ranking that we will try to defend at our best".
