Blithfield SC ran their second Youth Regatta with racing for U19s in our training/pathway fleets of Optimist, Topper and Laser Radial. Conditions were fantastic with sunshine and a nice F2.

Racing in the main fleet was very close between Lydia Barber (Laser Radial) and Taylor Berry (Topper) with them trading wins on corrected time. After 4 races Lydia took the top spot with Taylor 2nd and 3rd Dexter Cole (Topper), 4th and first Optimist was brother Xander Cole. 5th Daniel Foster (Optimist), 6th Alfie Basset (Optimist).

On-water coaching was provided to the regatta sailors with the 'bonus' tows to bring slower boats back into the pack.

For some, it was their first time racing and they finished the day with smiles all round. Prizes and medals were awarded on the balcony by the legendary Olympian Robin Webb.

With six entries, this will be our smallest open meeting of our year but possibly the most important as we seek to inspire the next generation.
