TYCA Tay Week at Royal Tay Yacht Club

Fireballs joined the dinghies taking part in the Weekend series of Tay Week which was held at Royal Tay from 17th-23rd June. Forty boats; dinghies, keelboats and Squibs took part in the racing which saw a good breeze.

Following the two series races there was the Discovery Centenary race,unfortunately the race had to be cut short as the wind died away, Peter Hay in the Fireball won the dinghy class and Sandy Bremner in a squib took the keel.

Sunday's racing eventually saw a good breeze fill in and give good racing throughout the fleet. The keelboats were sent on an inshore type course while the dinghies had two short races. Monday saw the all classes Lawson Cup take place in blustery conditions which made some of the competitors stay ashore.

The Hurricane 5.9 sailed by Hamish Ramsay and Stuart Buchanan won the Cup. Racing continued every night except Wednesday when it was blown off due to the high winds. The Rossleigh Trophy for best sailing performance was awarded to Father And son ,Bill and Jamie Carson both in Dart 18s. A good week sailing was had by all.
