Europe World Championship at CN El Balís overall

The European World Championship held at the CN El Balís has winners: Pau Schilt proclaimed champion in the men's category and Danish Anna Livbjerg in the women's category.

Pau Schilt, from the Nàutic Garraf Club, managed to qualify for the world championship after winning the OpenWeek last week. With a total of 26 points throughout the 8 events sailed (specially outstanding the three first and two second ranks) Schilt has jumped on the winner's podium in what has been his first competition after 4 years without sailing to devote himself to studies.

Alejandro Pareja, from the Real Club Náutico Torrevieja, has ranked 2nd (with 38 points) and the Norwegian Lars Johan Brodtkorb finished third (with 39 points).

Danish Anna Libvjerg has led the women's category throughout the championship. She has achieved a total of seven first ranks, one second and one fourth rank in the 9 races held on the waters of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres. With 7 points, Anna Livbjerg has been the clear winner of the EWC 2019, thus achieving her eighth consecutive world championship.

Ascension Roca de Togores, of the Royal Yacht Club Torrevieja, complete the female podium with 18 points, along with Elisabet Llargués, of the Nàutic El Masnou Club, with 31.

The last day of the EWC, with winds between 10 and 14 knots, has counted with the participation of over 100 racers.

Seven Spanish sailors in the Top 10

Among the top 10 in the two categories there are a total of 7 Spanish sailors.

In the male category: Pau Schilt, from the Nàutic Garraf Club (1st); Alejandro Pareja, from the Real Club Náutico Torrevieja (2º) and Rafa Rabasa, from the CN El Balís (10º).

In the female category: Ascension Roca de Togores, from the Real Club Náutico Torrevieja (2nd); Elisabet Llargués, from the Nàutic El Masnou Club (3rd); Patricia Figuerola, from the Nàutic L'Estartit Club (4th) and Monica Veenhoven, from the Nàutic El Balís Club (5th).

The trophy award ceremony was attended by the Vice Commodore of the CN El Balís, Alfredo Llobet; the Mayor of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres, Joan Mora; the President of the Catalan Sailing Federation, Xavier Torres and the President of the International Europe Class, Paul Depoorter.

The EWC '19 in figures

During this week, and in different races until this Friday, more than 100 sailors from 11 countries have sailed on the waters of Sant Andreu de Llavaneres aiming for gold in the Europe Class world championship. A large Spanish fleet has participated in the races, with 42 sailors, 14 of whom representing El Balís CN.
