Hurry up and wait seems to be the theme for the first couple of days at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Paracas, Peru. The Sand Rain City took its time delivering wind today, leaving athletes stuck onshore until 2 pm.

Leaving the skiffs and kiteboarder ashore, sailors in all other fleets we're able to get out on the water. Unfortunately, the Laser, Laser Radial, and Sunfish weren't able to get any races under way, leaving them without progress after day 2.

In the RS:X Women, Olivia Mew, kept to the front of the fleet placing 3rd in her first race of the event. "It was a little bit tough waiting for the breeze to pick up, but it was definitely worth it, we had some nice marginal conditions and I'm very happy with where I sit after today." While the fleet was able to complete a total of two races, this Canadian sailor is currently sitting in 4th place overall.

The Nacra 17 duo, Allie Surrette and Max Flinn took the Bay of Paracas ready to compete. This team was able to get two races in, with a 9th and 10th place finish. "The first two races were tough, but we're still working and pushing forward for some better races tomorrow!"

From Thunder Bay, the Lightning crew, Richard Walsh, Alex Cox, and Nikka Stoger, were able to get one race in today, sitting in 5th overall. The team comments; "it was great to get that first race done, we're feeling good as a team and looking forward to more races to come."
