The first phase of construction began in October 2018 with the team from Wynyard Edge Alliance gaining access to the area of Wynyard Point occupied by the fuel storage and hazardous substances tanks, so the area could be stripped, decontaminated, underground services fitted and then capped with tarmac, ready for base construction. The first base has apparently been handed over to INEOS Team UK ready for base construction. NYYC American Magic is alongside and is very close to completion.

The progress Plan for August 2019 shows the development is on or ahead of target dates - which can be checked against the images and colour coded project plan. Work will begin on removing the remaining tanks during August (in the segment coloured yellow). All base construction is due for completion in February 2020. The final construction phase is due for completion in November 2020 - when the superyacht and J class berths are ready for occupation down the edge of Halsey Street and the Eastern Viaduct.
