Gul Scorpion National Championship at Llandudno Sailing Club - Day 2

by Steve Walker 30 Jul 2019 07:01 BST 27 July - 3 August 2019

Welcome to day two, the sun is out and suddenly Llandudno has turned into the place to be. The campsite crowd is looking far happier sitting outside in the sunshine.

The course was set a little more out to sea and with the lighter winds the tide was more obvious.

Race 3 got under way with the tide running right to left. Making keeping to the right of the course key. The sausage, triangle, sausage course keeping the fleet nicely close. 1st Tom Gillard/Rachel Rhodes 2nd Andy McKee/Steve Graham 3rd Sam Barker/Cara Jones. Others of note were Dave Snutch/Nick Ogles with a very creditable 8th and Jon/Nicola Willars in 10th.

Race 4 started after a short postponement while the wind direction settled. The fleet got under way in a light variable wind. 1st Peter Grey/Richard Pepperdine 2nd Tom Gillard/Rachel Rhodes 3rd Andy McKee/Steve Graham. Others to note were 5th place for Peter Crowther/Dave Thompson and 6th Issac Marsh/Malcolm James.

After Monday's races we now have four races complete and three different race winners - it's close at the top.

BBQ and games night completes the days activities, fingers crossed for more glorious weather from Llandudno!
