Team Dutch Wave rose from 17th to 10th place in the World Match Racing Rankings. They are the first team from the Netherlands to earn a top ten ranking in over a decade. The rise is the result of a successful season, which saw Team Dutch Wave on the podium for their five most recent regattas.

World ranking

The ranking is based on the best eight events from the previous two years. High rankings result in invitations to participate in the World Match Racing Tour. Team Dutch Wave, consisting of Skipper Jelmer van Beek (The Hague), Main Trimmer Rutger Vos (Utrecht), Trimmer Robin Jacobs (Rotterdam) and Bowman Jorden van Rooijen (The Hague), have regularly been in the Top 25, but the rise to 10th has consolidated the teams recent performance.

Robin Jacobs explains: "The top ten is an enormous boost for the team. During the previous season we were not performing as well as we wanted to, resulting in multiple results just outside the podium. At the moment everything is coming together which is rewarding and the ranking consolidates that. I am looking forward to the upcoming regattas with this team."

Towards the Future

The next season of the World Match Racing Tour is likely to contain an increased amount of monohull racing, following changes in the America's Cup and Tour ownership.

Jelmer van Beek reacts: "The tour returning to monohulls is great for our team. We achieved good results in the past year on these types of boats. At the moment we are making plans on how we can make it into the top five in the upcoming season. In search of strong competition, we successfully raced in Australia last winter and are planning on going to America next year.

Other Dutch teams in the Top 100 are Dirk Jan Korpershoek in place 58 and Floris de Wit in the 72nd place.
