Blithfield SC Club Regatta

The arrival of a Bouncy Castle at the end of June marked the start of the Blithfield SC's Club Regatta, and it was put to excellent use from the very start of weekend.

Saturday saw the younger members and the young at heart enjoying wall to wall sun and fun on the water as the annual regatta kicked off with entertaining team races and challenges, including climbing to the top of a Topper mast - "is this even possible?" was the initial response. After a full day of fun activities including a trip to the ice cream boat, duck collecting, raft racing and various activities in overloaded toppers (!), 'Team We' won overall. Back on shore Rosie Griffiths won the cake competition with an amazing 3D edible boat.

Into the evening and a great feast with a DIY BBQ and more activity on the Bouncy Castle, with others sticking to the bar and relaxing in the fantastic weather. Those that dragged themselves out to the race course on Sunday to compete for the Founders Cup enjoyed much stronger winds. After two conventional handicap races, the finale was an exciting pursuit race with the Merlin of Steve and Gill Leney and the Supernova of Phil Mason only just closing down the fast sailing juniors in the club Hartley 12s in the last couple of minutes. Fab weekending!

2nd Merlin Rocket 3716 - Steve and Gill Leney
3rd Fireball 13944 - Dan Johnson and Ben Latham

Regatta Fleet

2nd Hartley 12 - Tim Male and Harry Freeman
