Laser open meeting at Notts County Sailing Club

The Notts County Laser Open took place on Saturday 6th July in light winds. Thirty four entrants took part with visitors from all over he Midlands including Earlswood, Bartley, Carsington and Rutland. There was also a good club contingent with some entering their first Open Meeting.

The Race Officer, James Logan, had quite a job as the wind swung and had to average out the shifts to get a course in. Racing was two back to back races before lunch and two after lunch. Joe Scurral from Carsington won the first race, then it was George Fereday from Earlswood all the way with three firsts, so taking the open by a four point margin. Simon Hardiman from Bartley was first master with seconds and thirds to count so coming second overall.

The first Notts County boat was organiser Richard Mason in forth, John Tailby was first youth and Sarah Mason first lady. The Grand Master title was taken by Mike Heap from Ogston.

The prize-giving took place soon after the finish in sunshine.
