It was a dull damp day on Saturday at Bassenthwaite but this did not deter 6 visitors joining 6 home boats for the annual Laser open. The wind was generally a pleasant force 2-3 and fortunately, the rain eased after lunch which made racing much more pleasant.

Neil Garrison from Bassenthwaite and Tim Keighley from West Riding shared the spoils in the first two races leaving all to pay for in race 3. In the event Tim won the third race with Peter Whipp from Bassenthwaite in third, leaving Tim the overall winner, Neil second, and Peter third.

Prize giving was then somewhat delayed due to two protests in the Solo open running in parallel.
