Coast Guard Foundation announces Matching Gift Challenge in honor of its half-century of service

by Rus Graham 30 May 2019 21:13 BST 5 June 2019

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and well-being of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced that in honor of the Coast Guard Foundation's 50th anniversary, Leidos, a generous corporate donor, has offered to match every gift received by June 5, 2019 dollar for dollar up to $50,000.

"The support of our donors coupled with Leidos' matching gift will help close the gap between the services provided by the Coast Guard's budget and what service members really need," said Susan Ludwig, president, Coast Guard Foundation. "Through our programs like college scholarships for children of fallen Coast Guard heroes, assistance to families of critically injured members, and morale and recreation support, Coast Guard members can be ready to perform their difficult, often arduous duty."

Leidos is a Fortune 500® information technology, engineering and science solutions and services leader working to solve the world's toughest challenges in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, civil and health markets. It is also celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019, and over the last 50 years, Leidos has worked in some of the most advanced areas of science and technology to deliver critical solutions to its customers' most demanding challenges.

"Leidos has a strong affinity with the armed forces, both in our lines of business and in our workforce. I also have a personal connection with the Coast Guard since both of my grandparents served in this branch during World War II," said Scott Gray, senior vice president, Leidos Homeland Security Solutions. "We are honored to provide this donation and encourage others to join us in supporting Coast Guard members and their families."

"I am grateful for the generosity of Leidos, our corporate partner, in offering this contribution as a matching gift challenge," Ludwig stated. "Through their support we can truly make a difference for those who serve in the United States Coast Guard."
