Team Allen sailors emerged triumphant last Sunday after a testing week at Weymouth for the 49er and Nacra 17 European and Open European Championships, an important step towards Tokyo 2020.

In the European Championships. Team Allen and British Sailing Team members Dylan Fletcher & Stu Bithell and James Peters & Finn Sterrit took Gold and Silver respectively, with Diego Botin & Iago Marra from Spain garnering Bronze.

In the Open European 49er FX Championships, Overall Gold went to the Brazilian Team Allen pairing of Martine Grael & Kahena Kunze. Making it a great weekend for the Team, the U23 Nacra 17 Class was won by Team Allen's Italian pairing, Gianluigi Ugolini & Maria Giubilei.

Conditions early in the week were extreme, with suspected broken bones amongst a number of the crews and Team Allen's Laura Marimon suffering concussion, but continuing to race, supported by her helm, Chris Rashley in the Nacra 17. As they say, when the going gets tough, the tough get going... and when the going gets wild, winners rely on Allen.
